Buying tickets at train stations

Buying tickets on the train

To travel by train, you must have a valid ticket. Tickets can be purchased before you travel from a ticket machine or at one of the ticket offices at the stations (see above). Many trains are equipped with ticket machines, so you can also buy a ticket when you get on the train.

In addition, almost all trains in Saxony-Anhalt have a conductor. If it is not possible to purchase a ticket before boarding the train, or if the ticket vending machine is not working, you can simply buy your ticket from the conductor on the train (if the ticket vending machine is not available or not working, there is no extra charge). Please be proactive and ask the staff!

Tourist railways

Tickets for the Dessau-Wörlitzer Eisenbahn (DWE) and the Wipperliese can be purchased on board. On the Wipperliese and the DWE, the school vacation ticket is also seasonally valid. The Wisel ticket is also valid on the Wipperliese.

Tickets for the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB) are available at the HSB ticket offices and on the trains. You can also purchase tickets online.

Tickets for the Rübelandbahn can be purchased on the train or at the Rübelandbahn ticket offices.
